What to do and what not to do when you roleplay.
Spelling and Grammar
When posting on this site, it is quite important that you remember to post as 'cleanly' as you would if you were writing a report for school. This means avoiding such spellings that you might use in chatspeak (ie: ur, thru, etc.) or just spell-checking beforehand. Just try your best to post something that we all can understand. We're not going to ban you for a few errors, and we certainly do take into consideration language barriers.
Speaking in the Third Person
It isn't proper on rping sites (not to sound very prim) when a person posts using "I" or the present tense. When posting on sites like this, it's required that you speak in the past tense, third person. Here's an example of what you should do: "Jake walked across the room, smiling."
Here's what you should NOT do: "Jake walks into the room" or "I walked into the room grinning."
Keep true to your character.
Don't do things your character wouldn't normally do. Don't make them too extreme, unless the case permits it or your character has been allowed by an administrator to act in such a way.
Have a Plot
We're not requiring that you develop sub-plots, as there already is a main plot for the site, however, it might be in your best interest should you want your character to be on a more important level. The best way to do this? Interact with other members. And if such personal storylines do come together, we don't have random posts starting and ending with no real achievement.
Fear Not the Questions
If you're a newcomer to roleplaying, we're here for you, and so are many other roleplayers on the site. It is our jobs -and presumeably theirs- to help you if you have any questions. So don't be afraid to ask at all.
No Godmoding!
Some people think it's okay to take over another person's character and make them do what they want them to do. Godmoding also includes 'normal people being able to read minds' and such. The only time we allow godmoding on this site is when a member has become inactive for some time and the need to take over for them is great. Also, if a character is obviously much stronger than another, we might allow a limited amount. All in all, it amounts to the role the character plays on the site and to the plot. If someone wants to be a fortune teller, and we see that it would tie in to the plot, we will allow it.
